Fort Story – an old World War I base that is now a major transportation center for the Army. The base contains a number of historic attractions including the First Landing Cross, which marks where settlers first landed on April 20, 1607; the Old Cape Henry Lighthouse, the oldest government owned lighthouse; and the site of the Battle of the Capes, from the Revolutionary War.
